About
Paws 4 R Heroes the dream of founder Pamela Watson, who is an experienced Professional Dog Trainer and owner of Paws-A-Tive Dog Training LLC. Pam owns 2 horses, 2 dogs, 3 birds, 3 cats and 1 snake.
Having many friends and acquaintances who are veterans returning from combat with PTSD and other debilitating issues both physical and emotional, she could not get their need for a four legged companion out of her mind. With the help of friends, she started Paws 4 R Heroes, a 501c3 Non-Profit to help these men and women get the best fur friend they could at no cost.
Some people think that any dog can be a Service dog, ESA and a trusted companion dog. This is far from the truth. A dog who is your best friend may not have the instinct to be able to let his owner know when there is a medical need arising or know when all they need is a long snuggle. In some cases they need to be able to literally assist their owners from room to room or help them get up off of the floor, bed or chair, these are called stability dogs.
Pam knows how to access the dogs in a short time and can give the pet owner the best advice on if their current dog is a good fit for a Service Animal. If unfortunately there is a need for another dog to fill this need, Pam will help the veteran find the perfect dog that will fit into the current family dynamics.
There are several levels of service dogs and Pam has experience with all levels and will give each person the highest quality of support possible at no cost to the veterans.
